Microphone Installation Principles

We recommend following the principles below to install the microphone to ensure the best recording quality:

Close to the Sound Source

Place the microphone as close to the sound source as possible. For example, if recording a teacher's lecture, the microphone should be installed near the teacher. The closer the distance, the more effectively ambient noise interference is reduced, enhancing sound clarity.

Stable and Vibration-Free Installation Position

Ensure the microphone is fixed in a position that does not shake or vibrate. Equipment vibrations can introduce unnecessary noise, affecting recording quality. If needed, use shock mounts or dampers to reduce mechanical interference.

Avoid Environmental Noise Sources

The microphone should be kept away from equipment such as fans, air conditioner outlets, or lighting transformers. These devices generate wind noise or low-frequency hums that can severely impact recording quality. If unavoidable, consider using windshields or acoustic barriers.

Ensure a Direct Path for Sound Transmission

There should be no physical obstructions between the microphone and the sound source, such as partition walls, wooden boards, or cardboard boxes. These obstacles can block or reflect sound waves, causing recordings to become blurred or distorted.

Acoustic Treatment of the Environment

Control Reverberation: Hard surfaces can cause sound reflections and echoes, affecting recording clarity. Adding acoustic panels, thick curtains, or carpets in the room can reduce unnecessary reflections.

Avoid Background Noise: Choose a quiet room, turn off unnecessary equipment, and reduce ambient noise interference.

Cabling and Connections

Use High-Quality Cables: Select well-shielded (anti-interference) audio cables to reduce electromagnetic interference.

Avoid Cable Entanglement: Audio cables should be kept away from power lines or other equipment that may generate interference.

Regular Inspection and Maintenance

Equipment Check: Before important recordings, check that the microphone and related equipment are functioning properly.

Cleaning and Maintenance: Regularly clean the microphone to prevent dust or moisture from affecting its performance.

By following the above principles, you can effectively enhance the recording quality of the microphone, achieving clear and professional audio capture.
